Just a reminder to look at the construction of this home and not be put off by the condition it is in at the start of the renovation project. This home has been in much need of upgrades and repairs, and maintenance was lacking in many areas. When I first saw this home, I fell in love with it. I could see past all the issues and envisioned what it could become transformed into. This home and I realized many challenges and all were conquered. One upgrade not immediately evident is that the roof of the house and garage were completely redone. We also built a deck at the back of the house and installed two fences bordering both sides of the neighbouring properties. We removed an old rundown car port that was in poor condition. The outside of the house and the garage received a new fresh coat of paint. All 17 windows in this home have been replaced with double pane, low-E, double glazed and argon gas filled panes. The bottom of the slider windows can be opened from the inside so you can clean both sides without going outside (see new kitchen video). In total, there were 17 windows, two doors and one patio door installed.
Before Comments After
Attic:
We are starting with the attic. Over the years a closet was created but it was only fastened to the wall by a few screws. It was made with many types of materials. Removing it allowed us to increase the living space in this beautiful attic. There were two windows and we upgraded them to a single awning window which made the view much better. The floor was sanded down and varnished with semi gloss. Then the walls were primed and painted.
Kitchen Second Floor:
The kitchen cupboards and cabinets needed a face lift and we did that by first of all washing it down. Then we applied a primer and a fresh coat of paint. The floor was sanded down and we used a semi gloss varnish.
General Information:

We sanded down all the old wood baseboards and mouldings and refreshed the color. On the front of the house we removed the old yellowish green aluminum siding and replaced it with vinyl siding. Now the color matched the rest of the house. All the electrical wiring, outlets and light fixtures in the kitchen, living room and dining room were upgraded.
