On this page we will show you a full home renovation (Part 2).
Just a reminder to look at the construction of this home and not be put off by the condition it is in at the start of the renovation project. This home has been in much need of upgrades and repairs, and maintenance was lacking in many areas. When I first saw this home, I fell in love with it. I could see past all the issues and envisioned what it could become transformed into. This home and I realized many challenges and all were conquered. One upgrade not immediately evident is that the roof of the house and garage were completely redone. We also built a deck at the back of the house and installed two fences bordering both sides of the neighbouring properties. We removed an old rundown car port that was in poor condition. The outside of the house and the garage received a new fresh coat of paint. All 17 windows in this home have been replaced with double pane, low-E, double glazed and argon gas filled panes. The bottom of the slider windows can be opened from the inside so you can clean both sides without going outside (see new kitchen video). In total, there were 17 windows, two doors and one patio door installed.
Before Comments After
Bedrooms on the Second Floor:
These bedrooms required a few upgrades such as new windows, paint and one new walk in closet with a 5 foot wide mirrored slider door. We also sanded down the floors and used a semi gloss varnish for the entire second floor.
Bathroom on the Second Floor:
We took out the old cast iron bathtub, toilet, sink and window. We completely removed the old floor and fixed the plumbing. We changed the location of a vent and installed a new vanity, toilet and medicine cabinet. We installed a 3 piece shower/tub. On one side of the tub near the toilet, we installed a door to allow access to the shut off valves. On the other side of the tub, we installed a tall cabinet for towels and other accessories. We left a small space between the tub and cabinet for some additional tall storage space for a broom or mop. We also mounted 3 towel racks, one on each side of the vanity and one at the entrance of the bathroom. For the floor we used vinyl flooring. The ceiling was lowered by 12 inches, this was done to make room for the fan and to align the top of the tub with the ceiling, to make it more appealing. The last step was to prime and paint the walls and ceiling.
General Information:

We sanded down all the old wood baseboards and mouldings and refreshed the color. On the front of the house we removed the old yellowish green aluminum siding and replaced it with vinyl siding. Now the color matched the rest of the house. All the electrical wiring, outlets and light fixtures in the kitchen, living room and dining room were upgraded.
