Plumbing can be fun but can also be frustrating.
We started with a simple, minor upgrade of some of the plumbing pipes but ended up replacing all the plumbing in this 2 story home.
The old pipes were made of cast iron and were starting to leak.
After changing a few of the old pipes to PEX, we started to notice that a domino effect had begun.
When replacing old pipes for new ones, you do NOT need a permit from the city.
You need a permit when you are adding something new in your home such as a new bathroom.
The domino effect was that there were more problems with the old pipes like:
1 - When we removed one part of the pipe the other part was loosened and now clogging.
2 - Some of the pipes cracked when we were upgrading other parts.
So after all the changes were made, everything worked perfectly.
The entire job took 3 days to complete but all the plumbing in this house is now brand new.
As you can see on some of these pictures the old pipes were in really bad shape.
We decided to leave most of the old pipes in the floors and walls.
When the water flow is getting slow and it has nothing to do with the city service then it is time to call a plumber.
With time these pipes can get clogged and the inside walls of the pipe can start to be thinner and not allow the water to flow.
It is a problem with many old houses and most people do not see this issue until it is too late.
