For the windows we decided to go with two different models.
One is a slider and the other is an awning.
The reason was that if it gets too warm on the second floor, we can insert a window air conditioner if required.
Now that we have established the type of windows to be used, we can begin the process.
The opening for a window should be one inch more than the total size of the window.
This allows room to level the window.
The next step was to insert some 2 by 4's to support the ceiling and wall. Then we opened the wall.
This house is made of stucco so we needed a 4.5 inch grinder with a diamond turbo blade.
The cut took about 30 minutes to create a 40 by 36 inch hole.
Once the opening was complete we were able to insert the windows.
After the window was installed we used expanding foam to seal all around the window area.
Then we did the moulding on the inside.
This type of window came with the brick moulding already built into the window making our installation much easier.
